At least 4 people, but more people make for more fun

Game play

Players arrange themselves in a circle and toss a small, round object (a tennis ball, an orange, or even a real potato will suffice) to each other while music plays. The player who is holding the “hot potato” when the music stops is out. The game continues until one player is left — that player is the winner.

Objective

Through this playful game, young children are able to hone their hand-eye coordination as well as their motor skills. Above all, laughter is the goal.

Make it more fun

Put a simple twist on the rules — anyone who drops the “hot potato” is also out.
