Norman Lear fans, you’re in luck: Late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel is preparing a live 90-minute primetime event that re-creates episodes from two iconic Lear shows.

The show will feature Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei as Archie and Edith Bunker, while Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes play George and Louise Jefferson.

Live In Front Of A Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s ‘All In The Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons’ will air Wednesday, May 22, 8-9:30 PM EST on ABC. The show will feature Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei as Archie and Edith Bunker, while Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes play George and Louise Jefferson.

The cast includes other comedy stars like Ellie Kemper, Will Ferrell, and Justina Machado.

Now 96, Lear rose to Hollywood fame in the ’70s. “All in the Family” ran from 1971 to 1979 and spun off “The Jeffersons” as well as “Maude.” He will be Kimmel’s co-host for the big event.

According to Kimmel, the project is a dream come true. “The fact that a group of Oscar winners eagerly agreed to play these iconic characters is testament to the greatness of these shows and their creator, Norman Lear,” he said.

According to Jimmy Kimmel, the project is a dream come true.

“All in The Family” was groundbreaking for its discussion of race, women’s rights, and homophobia, and the producers of Kimmel’s think its subject matter will resonate just as much today.

ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke predicts the special to be “the can’t-miss television event” of the year — possibly the decade.

In any case, Kimmel and crew surely hope the one-night-only event is received better than the “Friends” spinoff “Joey” or the “Golden Girls” bombed attempt at a “Golden Palace” spinoff.
