Did you know? August 2 was National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. To celebrate, Oscar Mayer (the brand you know for its hot dogs and catchy jingle) this week will debut its version of the popular summertime treat: the hot dog ice cream sandwich.

The brand’s new creation, called the Ice Dog Sandwich, will include candied hot dog bits, hot dog sweet cream, spicy dijon gelato, all in a cookie bun.

Oscar Mayer teamed up with New York City ice cream artisan il laboratorio del gelato with a goal of “translating the experience of eating your favorite Oscar Mayer hot dog in frozen form.”

On Thursday, the wiener company tweeted:

The tweet comes just one day after popular mustard company French’s announced its mustard ice cream, which will be available starting on Saturday for a limited time in New York and Los Angeles.

Oscar Mayer’s icy, experimental treat will be available in New York City during the week of August 12 from a specially designed Wienermobile, the company’s signature vehicle. Samples of the creation will be free.
