The 2019 Major League Baseball season is winding down. Some teams have all but clinched playoff spots, while others are battling for the Wild Card. And for many fanbases, September is a time to call up the kids from the minors and start to think about next year.

Today’s map was created by ticket marketplace SeatGeek, who determined the most popular franchise in every U.S. county based on ticket sales.

Most popular team in the most counties: Atlanta Braves

The Braves are the kings of SEC country, with strong support in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. Atlanta was ranked first in 515 counties overall, way ahead of the Texas Rangers (287 counties) and St. Louis Cardinals (286).

The Giants win the (California) pennant

The Los Angeles Dodgers own the National League’s best record, while the San Francisco Giants are — as of this writing — 23.5 games back. But after winning three World Series titles earlier this decade, the Giants can also boast of being the most popular team in the most California counties: 45 of 58. The Dodgers control 11 California counties, and the Oakland A’s and San Diego Padres each top one county.

The Mariners cover the most territory

The Seattle Mariners have a firm command of the Pacific Northwest, but it’s the team’s popularity in Alaska (not pictured) that gives them the edge here.
